Israeli Tour Guide
My name is Moody (Mordechai) and I'm a licensed Israeli tour guide.
I grew up in a Jewish modern orthodox family in Tel Aviv. My mom is a chef (so I love to eat) and my father is an accountant (I let him handle the numbers).
I studied in Yeshiva (a Jewish orthodox school) and later at University for a B.A. in Biology and Psychology.
A few years ago, I left a job as a political activist to go on the best vacation of my life: a long hitchhiking trip in my own country. The trip was a focal point for me, allowing me to see how fascinating, beautiful, and diverse Israel could be. After the trip, inspired and exhilarated, I returned to school and studied for two more years to become a tour guide.
In addition to the standard license studies I have undergone advanced training and education in the historic and religious beliefs of Christianity. As a former orthodox Jew I feel a responsibility and privilege to guide both Jews and Christians in the Holy Land.
I have also received training in Eco-tourism and am soon starting another course on tracking animals in the field.
I love languages and am currently studying my fifth (Arabic); I also speak French but seldom have the opportunity to guide in it.
My Tours in Israel are about experiencing everything: history, food, culture, nature, religion, and politics. My love of Israel, life, and my diverse background are integrated into each of these and I'm excited and look forward to sharing it all with you.
Where to go?
I give tailor-made tours in all of Israel and the West Bank. Here are just a few ideas:
With 6,000 years of history, three main religions, and a variety of ethnic groups, the city of Jerusalem is a living mosaic.
A former Crusader capital, the city of Acre is a gemstone on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Let me introduce you to the markets, the ruins, and the wonderful culinary scene of this great city.
Masada and the Dead Sea
From a historic fortress with a tragic story to chilling in a lake in which you cannot drown, the area of the Dead Sea is a must on every tour to Israel.
What do people say?
Perfection! Great personality to go with his fantastic knowledge. You made it fun and enjoyable. Thank you
I had a fantastic tour with Moody in Jerusalem's Old City. I had been before, but amazingly saw so much I hadn't seen the last time and learned so much! We got to see the mass in the Armenian Church which was really special. Moody is both knowledgeable and friendly--beat tour I've ever had!!
Moody was my guide on a recent trip across Israel. I am amazed not only at his extensive knowledge about all aspects of his country - history, archeological digs, religion, politics, nature but also by his obvious passion and love for Israel. We went to a few places off the itinerary based on Moody’s reco - and we were never disappointed in what we found. Our conversations were a mix of fun and some very serious topics - and I enjoyed each and every one. Kudos!!!
Moody is a great guide! Very knowledgeable and patient with a keen eye for his group
Moody is not only very knowledgable about the history of Israel and the sites we visited but took the time to engage with everyone on the tour, whether in English or Spanish. He answered questions and curiosities about the Israeli culture, military service and everyday life beyond what we see/hear in the news and everyone appreciated his easy going nature
Best guide ever - What a wonderful, informative day we had in Jerusalem with Moody. Such a lovely man with a gentle nature
